  • You’ll be working in a small group with a high ratio of mentors to student (max. 12 students to 2 mentors).
  • For students including beginners who want to learn how to make high quality films on a smart phone in an intensive, practical, 1 day course.
  • Recommended to photographers, marketing professionals, businesses and those starting their journey in filmmaking who want to develop their skills and experience.

This course will equip you with the basic tools you’ll need. You will work closely with industry professionals in a small group to devise, shoot and edit a piece of film footage on your Smart Phone.

This course is intensive, creative and highly practical. It has been designed for individuals and businesses who want to produce high, quality, moving on a Smart Phone.

Students should have a Smart Phone updated with the latest android/ iOS operating system to enable them to practice these techniques and exercises.

This course is open enrolment however, to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.

In order to make enrolment as fair as possible and to enhance your learning experience, please be aware that we have a limited number of places available for each course intake and operate a first come, first served basis.

Course structure

Morning Session 9.30am-1.00pm

  • Brainstorming session to generate ideas and discussion of how to achieve your goals through film
  • The importance of Narrative and Storyboarding- how it can enhance your film
  • Filmic composition – Enhance your videos with innovative filming techniques
  • Location scouting- the do’s and don’ts
  • How to add interest through the use of cut away shots and music etc.
  • Editing tips and shortcuts

Making a short Film

The best and most rewarding way for a group to learn Smart Phone filmmaking is by making a short film. Therefore this part of the morning session will be dedicated to making a film using some of the methods and ideas outlined at the beginning of the session.

Lunch 1.00pm-2.00pm

Afternoon Session Filming and Editing Tips 2pm-4.30pm

We will continue shooting the film to develop the skills and techniques covered during the morning session.

We will demonstrate the best and most useful editing apps and signpost students to our recommendations.

The finished film will be uploaded to our social media channels and will be available for student’s to upload to their channels.

A handout covering the workshop will be given to all students.

There will be the opportunity for a Q&A session with our mentors.
